The Chakras are energy vortices of the energy body that comprise part of the energy system. When perfectly open and balanced, one is lead to the experience of a harmonious reality, connection to the Oneness in everything, and ultimately to union with the Divine Consciousness.

Vishuddha Yantra

In the throat is the Lotus called Vishuddha, which is pure. This is the gateway of great liberation for him who desires the wealth of Yoga and whose senses are pure and controlled. He sees past, present and future and becomes the benefactor of all, free from disease and sorrow and long-lived. - Sat Cakra Nirupana

Description of the Yantra

Colour: Blue-grey

Element: Ether

Silver Crescent: Symbol of the cosmic sound, nadam, which represents purity

Triangle: A downward-pointing triangle, or akasamandala

White Circle: Represents full Moon, our psychic powers and the element of Ether

White Elephant: The animal guardian, Alravata, who carries the sound mantra. Associated with the god Indra. Airavata has no restraining collar - he is servitude transformed into service.

The Bija Mantra

Inside the akasamandala is a white circle containing the bija mantra HAM. When this is sounded, it vibrates and energises the brain and throat, bringing sweetness and harmony to the voice.

Meditation to Explore Desire:

A fitting focus for a meditation on this yantra, to assist you to move from the state of maya/illusion, is ‘desire’ - exploring not only why you may want something, but the whole concept of desire itself. There are no specific instructions other than to meditate in stillness. The whole point of yantras is to make the mind completely still: to have no dialogue with yourself, no thoughts, only concentration on the symbol itself (not even on the meaning of the symbol). It is pure meditation and not a kind of visualisation. You can only experience meditation and stillness.
